I understand that seeking therapy can be a significant step, and I’m here to support you on your path to wellbeing. Every client has their own history, goals, and preferences. I draw on a breadth of therapy modalities outlined below, but above all, my approach is client-centered. This means that I cater to your specific individual needs. Some of the modalities we may choose to use in our sessions include:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Often, distress in the current day is a result of blocked processing of past difficult memories. EMDR is a therapy that allows you to reprocess distressing memories and decrease the level of distress associated with these memories.
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Our thoughts can often inform our emotional processes. CBT focuses on identifying and adjusting thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to distress. It’s goal-oriented and helps individuals develop new and more adaptive coping strategies.
Psychodynamic Therapy: We are not always conscious of what drives our emotions and behaviours. Psychodynamic therapy explores the unconscious processes and early life experiences that inform our present-day emotions and behaviours. It aims to resolve inner conflicts and enhance self-awareness.
Emotion-Focused (EFT) and Attachment-Based Therapies: Our early childhood experiences inform our adult wellbeing and relationships. Attachment-based therapy focuses on our early attachment experiences and aims to create more secure and healthy attachment bonds in adulthood.
Narrative Therapy: The stories we tell ourselves about our lives can be powerful. Narrative therapy focuses these stories and helps us reframe and reconstruct them in a more helpful way.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy: Mindfulness can put us in tune with our thoughts, feelings and body sensations. By integrating mindfulness into therapy, our newfound awareness gives us power to accept or change these thoughts and feelings.
Spiritual Therapy: Spiritual therapy acknowledges the role of spirituality and faith in an individual’s life. It integrates spiritual beliefs and practices into the therapeutic process, providing support for individuals seeking meaning, purpose, and connection with their spiritual or religious beliefs. I provide space for all religious and spiritual beliefs, and to those interested, I can integrate principles of Christianity into therapeutic treatment.
Each client’s needs are different. Some of these approaches may resonate with you more than others, and some may surprise you with their impact. As we get to know each other and explore your reasons for coming to therapy, we will select different aspects of these approaches to help you achieve your specific therapy goals. I look forward to meeting with you and finding the right fit! Contact Me today.
